Ok guys, I need a little more help setting up my ppp. I'm trying to dial
into my ISP and I'm running into trouble. In X Windows (i'm using redhat
5.2), I can use the network configuration tool on the control panel to setup
all my dialup properties, and then to dial. It connects to my ISP and stays
connected for about 2 minutes. During that time, i used Netscape to test,
and sure enough I can connect to various sites. After two minutes, I hear my
line disconnect and then no dice. In X I can only do this under root login
(not under su), because of needed access to the network config tool. Outside
of X, if I use minicom to dial up and connect to my ISP, it does the same
thing (connects for the 2 minutes or so and then disconnects), but if during
that time i go into Xwindows and try to use netscape, it can't seem to find
my nameserver (or anything else for that matter). So I need your help: Why
does it disconnect and why can I only get the nameserver to work through that
network config tool off of the control panel in X? Thanks in advance.
