Thanks so much, but it didn't help. I suspect that I *am* down
to the 5% of disk space that only root can use (as you
suggested). I've got a spare drive that's bigger but it's from a
laptop. I'll get the cable to install it in my desktop, get Linux
up and running again ... and I think that'll solve the problem. :-
) If not, you'll surely be hearing. ;-)
But, *is* there a command to check available disk space? So
far I haven't found one.
