Hi Mike,
        I have seen vmware in action, and its quite good. Although what I saw
was a beta test, I was still impressed enough to consider it. A friend
was running it on a pentium 200, with 64 meg of ram. He had access to
any device that linux had access to. I think win98 running under vmware
had about 90% of the cpu when nothing else was running.  The win98
seesion also appears on the ms network within the network as a separate
computer, and since its emulates the architecture and not an operating
system, you could run an nt, os/2 etc, which I see as a big advantage.
Configuration didn't seem to be overly hard, i.e. if you can install
linux, then there should be no problems installing vmware. If you have
the space, I'd say give it a go,
