I'm also running Slackware with 2.0.29 on a 200 MHz pentium and I have no
such file. In fact, I have no such directory. My system does have the
file /usr/lib/libndbm.so, which is one of a set of interlacing symbolic
links to a bunch of libraries with 'gdb' in them. 'ldd' does not seem to
think that gdb needs them, however.
You might change the name, and see if something hangs. You should
probably have a rescue system in place before trying that, however.
