It is I who sent the original message. Sorry if I caused
some confusion.

Actually, the file I was going to remove was libdbm-. The filename
comes with the "-" at the end.

Here's a snapshot of my directory

hobbes:/usr/lib/libndbm>dir
total 2344
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 67832779 Aug 21 1997 libdbm-
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 9252 Aug 21 1997 libndbm-linux.a
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 14914 Aug 21 1997 libndbm.a

I'm running slackware 3.4 with kernel version 2.0.29 on a Pentium 166
with 32 MB.

The file is still growing. Last time I looked it was about 65000000 bytes.

What do you need to know to be able to help me?

Thanks to those people who answered!
