First, I'd like to apologize for listing my tropubles twice- the first
email hadn't made it to list after four hours, and I figured I'd try
again.

Second, thanks to all for suggestions, I'll let ya know....

>Stop trying to get online with your ISP. Your going to burn-out and
go postal. Put all the Howto's in a nice little pile and tell yourself
that you will get back to them later - You will, but in a completely
different light.

>Go down to the BookStar on Hawthorne Boulevard in Torrance and buy
the O'Reilly book, "PPP". It is sitting on the shelf right now as I
write this.

Hmm, somehow, I have never run into a reference to this volume in
any book or website. I will check it out.

>RTFM. In other words, read that book cover to cover, progressing from
page one to the back cover. do not continue on to the next chapter
until you understand and completely comprehend what is in the current
chapter. This is not a novel, you can't just blow through and expect
to assimilate the knowledge through osmosis. this is UNIX, not Dean
Koontz.

I am, I assure you, fully cognizant of the value of reading for
apprehension vs. reading for pleasure. Though I don't consider Koontz
reading material of any sort (except maybe last ditch, only English
book left in the airport in Rome). <insert grin>

>then come back here with your specific problems (Which you won't have
it you follow my instructions) and We'll be more than happy to help
you.
>then come back here and help someone else.

That is an intention of mine- as well as a necessary requisite for
functioning well in a prestige based social system.
