I don't have any windows environment at all. I just use wine to run
individual programs, and usually don't bother with a window manager for
X Windows either. If you want a program manager, just use progman, I
think, or try running mane in wine/programs and see if the builtin wine
program manager will work. I don't have any *.grp files or even
progman.ini, so it just comes up blank, but it might work for you.
I guess you have a driver and maybe an install program for the scanner,
but does it come with an application, too? I think I'd try to run your
install on your non-windows linux system and see what happens. :-)
I have been picking patches off wine-devel that looked useful, and they
seem to have cleared out some of the bottlenecks. In a way, you caught
Wine at a bad time, but I think it will improve greatly in speed and
stability over the next few weeks. I could be wrong, of course.
