Ive installed the Brazilian version of redhat (conectiva guarani) and everything should be right, since it comes with xfree86 3.3.3.1 and the video card is listed there. My problem is that I prefer using 1024x768 truecolor (24bit) video mode, and what I got was 800x600 at 16 bit. If this were my only problem, I wouldnt mind and wait till the next release of xfree. But what I get is the above resolution and color depth, but my screen shrinks and I have to go with the mouse pointer to the edges of the screen. I like the virtual screen, but my real screen is too small (Ive got a 14" monitor), so I would like to use its real capacity. Ive already gone through the XF86Config file and all virtula screens are disabled (with a # before the line). Can the problem be my monitor that is a bit old (Samtron SC428VS). Has anybody used this card without problems? Oh, my box is a PII 300 with 64MB of ram.
