and here another request on "mgetty"
I know there is a mgetty mailing list somewhere,
but have failed to find a working one.
does any one know of an mgetty list or is anyone here using mgetty
and able to help

Your guess is good,
I tried to swich the modems as one side is having a Motorolla,
and the other a "Taiwan super modem"
but it just resulted in the messages being a bit different,
with the end result the same.

I have to find a way of getting the modem to let go off the lockfile
as it "has" to be up on both sides, so I am back at mgetty.
