I have three main partitions on my HD. hda1 for Linux (hda5=root;
hda6=swap), hda2 for /usr, and hda3 for Windoze98.
When I installed RedHat 5.2, the installation process ran fine, but when
it came to the (LILO) booter installation, the screen told me that there
is some error when trying to install the booter on MBR. I did it again
several times and it still won't work. So I have to skip the booter
installation and use a bootdisk to boot Linux.
One of my friends told me to configure the lilo.conf file. I read the
documentations on the PC and also on books and on the net and I follow
them. But it still won't work. So anybody can tell me exactly how to
make it works?
I am really a newbie on Linux so I ask my friend to help me to configure
the internet connection. Then there was the first time I am on the net
with Linux, but it's reallyyy slooowww. The pages seen with Netscape
won't show up after I waited for minutes. So I have to use Lynx. My
friend told me that my PC lacked of memory (only 16MB) and the kernel
should be reconfigured (hacked). I still don't know how to hack the
kernel, so is there any other easier way?
