Oops, you will "keep getting it" let fsck finish its work at bootime, if it
can now that you have altered the partition.

BTW; it was NOT an error its the system saying "i'm gonna check your disk for
you, SIT back and wait".
Obviously you did not wait long enough, even if there were problems you
*should* have gotten a message saying "fsck" had found problems, or that you
were about to be dropped into INIT 1 so you could have checked the disk 
"manualy".
