Trying to set up my sound card (Ensoniq Soundscape VIVO 90). Ran
sndconfig, which recognized the card, edited isapnp.conf. When booting,
the speakers click as the card is initialized (or something). But when I
do
sound.au > /dev/audio
it says
bash: /dev/audio: Operation not supported by device.
I'm running RedHat 5.2. As far as I can tell, the Sound-HowTo talks about
/dev/audio only with respect to compiling a new kernel. But as I
understand, sound is now supported with loadable modules, so it doesn't
seem to apply.
Where do I need to look to find the answer to this problem? Or, maybe I
should ask, what more info do you need to help me. Thanks,
Cliff Frazier
