All, I just installed RedHat 6.0 a few days ago, and so far it's working
great. I just have one problem, and that deals with trying to set up a
username for myself, other than root.
I can create the user account fine, and log in, etc. but I want to give it
more power. I'd like to be able to run linuxconf, etc. and
connect/disconnect my PPP config. I've tried adding my username to the root
group, adding the root, sys, adm, etc. groups to my user account, but
nothing seems to work. I checked the box that says 'Allow all users to
(de)activate PPP account' in linuxconf for my PPP setup, but I still cannot
connect unless I'm root.
Could there be some global config that I've got set that is overriding the
group properties for my user? I don't understand why my user cannot do
anything but the basics. I've read the Redhat docs, LDP docs, HOWTOs, and it
all sounds straightforward. What am I missing?
Thanks in advance, Paul
