Hi!
My computer suffered a major upgrade. Now, there is a big
problem. The old hard drive was Ok all the time. The new one has
problems. I don't think the problems are a consequence of bad hardware.
I mean I tested each piece.
And still... my quantum fireball (8.4g) seems to have a problem.
I keep getting bad superblock, or a different problem. This only happens
at boot time. And only happens with the root partition. I get very often
things like dtime is set, or wrong block count. And finally my filesystem
getts corrupted. It can't be because of the hard drive. This is only a
300m partition. And the rest of the drive has no problem.
From what can this come? I run rh4.2 with kernel 2.0.30. I know
it's pretty old, but so far I didn't have the chance to obtain a newer
distribution.
Also, I have windoze 95 osr2 as well on this hard drive. And
there were problems each time I tried to do all patitioning in Linux.
Finally I discovered why: the dos extended partition has the 'f' id, not
the normal extended partition id. And it contents can't be seen by linux.
Is this a problem that was fixed or some kind of feature?

        Raider
