Hi !

        I was hitting probs formatting my prompt ,too. For me the following line
in the /etc/bashrc file works:

PS1='\h:\w\$'

 Now the prompt shows the hostname, complere directory tree and the # or $,
depending if it is a root account or not. For getting the complete name try

PS1='\u@\h:\w\$'

With changing the \w to \W you will see only the actual dir name you are
right in. Considering from your description the \t will add the time.

        I hope i could help you a bit. I noticed the same with KDE, too, but i
noticed also that it has nothing to do with KDE coz the NUM lock is
switched off directly while booting into linux. I just press the num lock
key to active the number block if i need it, hehe, quick fix.

>(it seems that pasting from my KDE editor won't work with NSCP mail.)
