Well MeK,

although I am not quite sure (your explanation is a bit fuzzy) I get the
idea that when you open your KDE file manager and go to the directory where
you have dumped the faq, instead of displaying the directory contents (your
important stuff), it displays the HTML page of the faq. If this is the case,
the cause is simple: when saving the faq to disk, you stored it under the
name of 'index.html' or 'default.html' or something similar. Normally on
webservers, when someone asks for a specific URL which doesnt contain an
.html filename (e.g. http://huizen.dds.nl/~aleksei/ - which just happens to
be my homepage :-) the webserver looks for a specific index file which is
displayed instead of the directory contents. This saves the user from having
to type (same example) http://huizen.dds.nl/~aleksei/index.html . Some
webbrowsers (and the KDE filemanager is also a webbrowser) also use this
scheme when browsing local directories. The solution would be to either 1)
rename the file to something different (e.g. 'mv /home/mek/index.html
/home/mek/modem-FAQ.html' in a terminal window) or 2) disable the K file
manager to display the HTML file (should be in the menubar somewhere).
