According to Mike Zodun: While burning my CPU. > > >A small tip; > > > >Try using xf86config instead of Xconfigurator XF86Setup etc... > > > >Your card is supported and is named in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/Cards so there > >should be no problem. > > > > > I understand your frustration with me, but there is no error message... when > X loads (or is loading, when I see my initial desktop) it freezes. > No not frustrated, sometimes a little bit on the quick of the mark side, but that has no relavance here. Now what i am about to write "might" have no relavance at all, however i was at a friends house just a few days ago, for the same reason of this mail. "X" would not work, i get the impression from the wording of your reply that you are falling into the same hole my friend was. He was typing X to startup the xserver, that will result in the problems you describe, you start X with 'startx' not X, X will start the Xserver not the window manager, and will leave you with the impression that the system has frozen, which by the way it will not be if you use that option, hit ctrl-alt-backspace at the same time, that will kill the server and should return you to the console mode where you started. Now all the above is just an assumption, Ray explaned howto capture error messages to a file, lets wait and see what that file reveals, then Ray, i and others can help you more. -- Regards Richard.
