I've had problems with PCMCIA too on kernel 2.2.9. You're not telling us
what version of the kernel *you* are using. There is a known problem with
PCMCIA and kernel 2.2.9 (I have no details). I upgraded to kernel 2.2.10. No
problems with PCMCIA anymore.
