Sounds like you do not have a dial tone...normally the clicking sound is the
modem picking up the line....and if you do not hear a dial tone or modem
sounds then make sure the line is pluged in to the right socket on the back of
the modem...that the phone is plugged in to the wall (I have done this
before!)...if all that is correct then your modem might have the speaker turned
off and you are getting a fail some where further on down the line...if that is
the case I would need an error message.. to really be of futher help
