Hi !
I had once a problem with a libstdc++.so.2.9 that was impossible to be
found, but after digging a while in my Linux i found out that I had the
libstdc++.2.9 that is somehow identical with the "so" version, just the
name is different. I brought that up on several list (including this) and
received basically shrugging shoulders asking if it wouldn't be a great
idea to manage the names so that the same file keeps the same name all over
the world (makes sense to me). Or even better have a source included where
to get needed files to prevent dependency failures - in this case I see
that it is not that easy to do for who ever creates the package / source
code and that websources sometimes tend to outdate.
My tip: look if there is a libgtk.1 and libgdk.1 available on your system,
if yes try to install the packages without testing for dependcies, if it
works then u won, if not you have to really get the needed files.
You may be successful if you kindly email the author of the program u like
to install, but please do that if nothing else helps. Most of the
programmers get tons of mails and may be a bit annoyed by such a request -
that happened to me, but finally it worked out.
