visit http://www.pc.ibm.com/support?page=IBM+Aptiva and find out
if that modem is a "winmodem". if it is, you will have to keep using the
external (my preference anyway - i like the lights!). PCI winmodems are
not supported under Linux. if it's not a winmodem, and you can set the
jumpers yourself, do that.
or use the 'isapnptools' package to configure it as plug-n-play(pray).
