Not being a "HACKER" (as opposed to "hacker" which I am), I fail to see why
this concept should bring negative response. We were all kids at one time,
(some of us several times, hehe). They obviously don't realize some of the
contributions that the younger generation (under 18) have made. After all,
many of the old Unix "HACKERS" are old fuddies by now, perhaps even
ancient, maybe over 40!!. (Don't knock it, I'm 55).

Projects like this do tend to grow in scope and endeavor. I've cross
posted this message on two other 'newbie' lists and between the three lists
there is plenty of expertise and knowledge to cover any subject. My
personal area is hardware and medical electronics but there are others with
broad or specialized knowledge.

Helping each other out is a form of advocacy. We're always willing to
provide help and answers. Heck, some of the best questions come from kids,
they sometimes have a much different outlook and way of seeing things that
us older folks have put our blinders on to. I've done some work with kids
on computers and they often ask "why can't I xxxxxx?". You can really
learn something when you try to explain why not and they come back with a
solution after working on it a while.
