If I am beating a dead horse, sorry, but I don't remember seeing it
mentioned. You know to connect DTE to DTE serial (a computer is also
data terminal equipment) you will need null-modem cables. How to wire
one is pretty well covered in the Serial-HOWTO.
Go door-to-door in your neighborhood, and you can probably collect
dozens of obsolete PC's - XT's, AT's, maybe even 386's, Even an XT will
run telix or procomm, maybe not much faster than 9600 baud, but how fast
cann you read, anyway?
