Fellow
penguins, Xers, and Wino's,
I'm trying to get X running so I can run
Wine (windows emulator)
I have wine installed as it came with RH6
but when I run this it says
"can't open display: (none
specified)". I'm trying to figure out whatever documentation I
can find and as far as I can tell, it needs X to be running, which takes me to
the problem with X.
I have run XF86Config and that didn't help. I can never get
past the gray screen. It just sits there forever until I type
ctrl-alt-pagedown.
I see a message at the end of the XF86Config
program that says I can now run 'startx' so I'm starting to get confused here. I
have always been able to run startx and am not intending to mess with
that.
I keep reading of people who have problems
with X but never read of any who are successful. Have any of you got X to
work? How about WINE?
Any help or hints?
