Guys,

I "maintain" the FAQ in question. The last time I had posted the
FAQ, I got feedback saying that the existing limits of Linux (max
hard-disk size, memory, filesystem size, users, etc) be placed in the
FAQ, as the (really old) limits mentioned in the FAQ are misleading. I was
able to locate some of the limits, from /usr/src/linux/Documentation, but
even a query on linux-kernel didnt give me a definite answer for
somethings like max hard-disk size supported. So I was diddling around,
hoping for some of the answers to fall into my lap before I posted the
next round.

While this was happening, I got hit by an extra heavy load of work
at the office, and I havent even been able to pay attention to this list
until recently. I now have some time to spare. What I plan to do is update
the FAQ with the limits I have in hand. But of course, posting the
existing FAQ should do much harm either, so Michael, you can go ahead.

Kenneth

PS. I plan to drop the html version. The original idea was that I would
do the FAQ in SGML so that multiple formats could be created with ease.
However, at the time when I was all ethusiatic about SGML, the tools were
in the process of changing from the linuxdoc DTD to the docbook DTD, and I
didnt want to do anything until the change was complete. Now (I think) the
change is complete, but I dont have the energy anymore for that. If anyone
is upto this task, I will gladly handover the FAQ to them. Or if
necessary, they could just do the conversion, and I could still continue
to maintain the FAQ.
