Kinda like the winmodems I would guess :)

Anyway, check out

There seems to be at least 2 virii avaible for linux.

One Virus scan is avaible for linux at
http://www.avp.com/download/download.html

I know this is a couple other scans out for *nix is general, I forget
where they are though. Most of them scan for WinXX and Mac virii.
These types of scanners are usefully for someone who runs a server with
alot of WinXX PC that store their files on the *nix server.

For a Virii to even hope of doing damage in a *nix system it would have
to be willfully executed by the Root user.

Also in the newer PC bios they have an option in the CMOS table to run
virus protect at start up. This basically either warns the user if a
program is trying to write to the "mbr" or disables program from
writeing to the "mbr". This could offer some protect.

Also if one is dual booting between linux and WinXX that are on the same
drive, a virii that plays games with your hard drive, *could* wipe out
the linux partations when it takes out the WinXX part.

I haven't meet anyone, anywhere yet that had even a slight problem with
a virius "messing" with *nix.
