No viruses are available for Linux, so I would assume no anit-virus programs

The  following came from http://www.sophos.com .

Sophos Anti-Virus supports the following UNIX platforms: Linux on Intel,
Linux on Alpha, FreeBSD on Intel, Solaris on SPARC, Solaris on Intel, AIX
on PowerPC, SCO UnixWare on Intel, SCO OpenServer on Intel, Digital
Unix on Alpha, and HP-UX on HP-PA.

Yes I am also not aware of any Linux viruses.

I kind of lost interest finding out what it protects against  But if anyone else knows or finds out I'd be interested in what the "Linux viruses" are.
