nope. It can stand anywhere, as long as you follow the rule that
arguments appear in the same order as the switches. But you are normally
not concerned with that, because one normally does not use any other
parameter-taking switches besides 'f'.

It is :-)
You can leave the '-' because 'x' et al. are mandatory positional
parameters, in short: It's a shortcut.
