        BTW...  For the other DOS dudes out there that think that
Cntrl-Z should be "End Of File" like it is on MS-DOS...

        EOF on Unix is conventionally Cntrl-D

        Cntrl-Z is suspend for most shells.  If you suspend a process
(by intent or by accident) it is held in suspension until you release
it to run.  Typing "bg" sends a suspended process to "BackGround" releasing
it to run disconnected in the background as if you had typed an '&' after
the command.  Typing "fg" will bring a suspended process (or a background
process from a previous suspend) back to the forground releasing it to
run connected to the screen.
