Running question, do you have a Dec Alpha chip in your system? I ask
because the version of glibc you're trying to install is written for it not
an Intel based system. Updates to RedHat systems (and almost everything
else) can be found ftp://ftp.cdrom.com/pub/linux/redhat/updates/<then
whatever version you have/<then whatever architecture you have>
