No it is definately _NOT_ a typo. The following is pasted directly from
the man page (Gnu tar 1.12)...
------------------------------------------------------
-y, --bzip2, --bunzip2
filter the archive through bzip2
-Z, --compress, --uncompress
filter the archive through compress
-z, --gzip, --ungzip
filter the archive through gzip
-------------------------------------------------------
I use...
tar cvyf filename.tar.bz2 /stuff_to_archive
and...
tar xvyf filename.tar.bz2
all the time. It works like a treat! :-)
