Hojo,
No, it is ussually run from /etc/rc.d at start up. Depending on your
distrubation
there may or maynot be a script for it already. Also depending on your
distrubation
it will vary in how and where you put this script.
What distrubation are you running?
Anyways it is (Bind 4.x) is run with the command:
/usr/sbin/in.named -a -f /etc/named.boot
Make sure to check your man pages and README, INSTALL notes with your
version on
bind, because this may vary a little.
DNS-howto (nameserver-howto, bind-howto?) I forgot the name of it, but
it is under
/usr/doc/ or www.linux.org -> support -> howto.
Also this book is very good for setting up nameservers using Bind 4 &
Bind 8,
it is by far the best book I have ever seen about setting up and
maintaining
nameservers.
