Hi 'moss'!
Read the man page to bash, esp. the section on 'INVOKING BASH'. Short
summary:
- ~/.profile is executed iff bash is invoked as login shell
- ~/.bashrc is invoked iff bash is not invoked as login shell
Solution:
- insert '. ~/.bashrc' at the end of ~/.profile.
A good way to get accustomed to which files are exec'ed when, is to
write 'echo ~/.bashrc' and 'echo ~/.profile' as first command in
~./bashrc and ~/.profile resp.
