Check your configuration - particularly video memory. Several
others have had problems with 6.2 (and kernel 2.2.12 on other
distributions) with the clock values behaving as if the had been
set to half speed - thus losing higher resolutions, and other
flakey behavior ;-)

If that doesn't work, I suggest you reset /etc/lilo.conf to boot
with your previous kernel until a patch is available; or if
you've already sent the old kernel to bit heaven (3 lashes with
a full printout of the man pages, no gold star for today, and
stand in the corner for 20 minutes) you can change to the generic
SVGA server (trust me, it's really not that bad).
