relating to that.

However, upgrading your kernel from 2.0.36 to 2.2.6 isn't as easy as
just installing the new kernel.  You _must_ make sure that
_everything_ on your system complies with what is in the 2.2.x Changes 
file.  (/usr/src/linux/Documentation/Changes).

So my advice would be to spend some time going through that file and
making sure that everything you have is up to date.
