Hi All,

I am very new to linux.. Just installed Caldera 2.2 OpenLinux on my PC
(Pentium II) few days back. I am trying to connect to internet (ATT is my
ISP). I have tried both updating the options file, making entries in hosts
file etc. and also using the KDE interface KPPP to connect to the internet.
ATT does not directly support Linux. However, they have some information on
their web site WURD.com which I have tried..

The problem that I am facing is that pppd daemon is getting timed out.. I
get 'Logging onto network' message for long.. I have set the pppd timeout to
1200 secs!!

I am using an internal 56.6 Kbps modem.. the modem seems to be dialing the
number..!

I get the following error message in the Log :

Aug 30 19:52:26 noname pppd[953]: pppd 2.3.5 started by root, uid 0
Aug 30 19:52:26 noname pppd[953]: Using interface ppp0
Aug 30 19:52:26 noname pppd[953]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/modem
Aug 30 19:52:33 noname pppd[953]: Remote message:
Aug 30 19:53:03 noname pppd[953]: IPCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
Aug 30 19:53:09 noname pppd[953]: Connection terminated.
Aug 30 19:53:09 noname pppd[953]: Hangup (SIGHUP)
Aug 30 19:53:09 noname pppd[953]: Exit.

Any help will be highly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Ajay
