Richard:
Tried to send this earlier, but my system (at home)
auto-replies to the "majordomo" address instead of the
"linux-newbie" address! *sigh*
In any event, what you need to do is "modprobe <module.o>"
to get the kernel to see your SCSI card.
To see the list of modules (at least under RedHat/Mandrake)
go to /lib/modules/<kernel>/scsi/ Unfortunatley, I don't
seem to see your EXACT model of SCSI card. I see about
three other Adaptec SCSI cards, but not the 14xx series.
Adaptec has recently started supporting Linux, so maybe
they'll have the .o module you need for that card. If so,
I believe you need to add that to "/etc/conf.modules" so
that it's included each time you boot. Also, if you intend
to try and boot off the SCSI device you'll need to
recompile the kernel with support for that particular SCSI
card.
