I've been playing with redhat linux 5.2 for about two months now, and I am
pretty good at using many of the features in it. The only problem that I
seem to still be having is that I am still not able to connect to the
Internet and remain connected. I am using a static ip address, and I have
set all of the correct information as to DNS, nameserver, and domain
settings. I have read the man files on ppp, connecting to an isp,
networking, and I have three books on various versions of redhat linux.
After reading all of these sources, I am able to connect online, but after
a short time I get disconnected, and then my modem locks. When I connect
manually I see the following:

IntelliserverRelease 1.5.4b Port 8
ts-commack login: *************
password:************

Connected to 204.112.45.97 ppp08 204.112.45.112

Then I don't know what happens. I cannot ping my nameserver like many of
the instructions say I can.

I have set the feature in ifcfg to see both ts-commack/password and
s-commack/assword: I really have no ideas what to do right now. If I could
figure this out I would be extremely grateful/happy. Does anyone have any
ideas?

John
