I dont know the limit on how many ppp interfaces there is, but if
you start ppp it will ( i think open ppp0) as the first interface,
now say it fails and one forgets to down the interface, the next time
one tryes to start ppp the interface could be called ppp1.
Sound funny, yes, but no its not funny, the netrom protocol in linux
for example does the same thing, but the limit for nr interfaces's is
4 i think and i have had this behavouir happen to me.
Of cource your problem could be something intlirly different.
