"Hope that one exists".  That's pretty funny.

I would not be surprised to find that the number of standalone email programs
that run on Linux/UNIX exceeds 100.  Possibly 500.  Email was INVENTED on UNIX.

Some moderately good to very good software I've used myself:
mail
elm
Pine
mutt

All of these are text-based.  For graphical mail clients, search for "email
client" or "email reader" or "mail user agent" at freshmeat.net
