Network Cards

Dear All,
  Could any of you let me know what type network cards you have in use with
Linux.  I am using Realtek, but can't even configure the baby as an ethernet
compatible.  I would also like to ask if any of you are in the Toronto
(Canada) area, and if you could let me know of any hardware/coputer stores
that would know what hardware works with Linux, and what doesn't.
