You are setting the software date.  Every time you reboot the system reads
the hardware date.  If you set the hw date to the proper time then
everything is good.  If the hw date is skewing, then you can install a
time server (ntp).  Also, I believe there is a bin called hwtime or
something like that.  It allows you to set the hw date from the os rather
than going into the bios.
