Can not receive my emails

Well folks,
I am slowly getting there!!  I've configured fetchmail (I think) and
pine to the point that I can send emails.  The problem I'm having is, I
am not receiving emails.  I've read all that I can find and tried
everything I can think of but, to no avail.  
Any suggestions from the gurus and fellow newbies are  most welcome.
