I have had some problems of that nature.
Sorry, I know nothing of fetchmail, but the POP3 and IMAP clients on the
RH6 distribution is by default turned off. Open the /etc/inetd.conf and
un-comment the corresponding lines. Then, Email will work for clients like
Netscape (which I use).
