I ran into this same problem with 3.3.5 under RH 6.0. I prevented it from
trying to load xfs at bootup by doing the following

chmod -x /etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs

Of course that still doesn't get xfs up and running for you later, which
I found you would like to have if you use control-panel to configure your
system. Without xfs running control-panel has trouble doing with some of the
configuration functions (e.g. Samba). How do I know this? 'cause
control-panel told me it could not make the changes I wanted to make without
xfs running.

If anyone can clear this up I would be greatful as well.
