At one point my AWE32 with RH 6.0 worked, but a lot of water went over
the dam, and when I now go back to see what's up with sound, I get an error
message.
The driver is installed. When I try to run a wav file, I get an error
message that the audio device is busy. When I double click /dev/audio,
I'm also told the device is busy. I take this to mean that there's a
hareware conflict.
When I run Red Hat's sndconfig, using the configuration that I believe
worked before and also when playing with alternative values, I get the
error:
The following error occurred running the isapnp program:
/etc/isapnp.conf:357 -- Fatal - resource conflict allocating
8 bytes of IO at 620 (see /proc/ioports)
/etc/isapnp.conf:357 -- Fatal - Error occurred executing
request '<IORESCHECK> ' --- further action aborted
I find the line in /pro/ioports:
0220-022f : soundblaster
But changing the IO port address had no effect on the error. Can I infer
from this that there's a conflict over the port? Why doesn't my changing
to one of the other port address options have any effect?
