parport busy

Hi!
    I'm trying to connect my linux laptop with my liunux PC :) via
paralel port (until I get  a PCMCIA Net Adapater)
    but insmod plip returns (on my laptop) a device busy, I can't get to
know who or what is using that device

any hint will be appreciated
