My X can't display 24bpp, and the GNOME window seems to be unable to
display a standard file in full ( e.g. linuxconf input page for Samba share
setup ). It's very frustrating. btw, i'm on RHL 6.0 kernel 2.2.5-15.
My config as follows : mb Asustek P5-A/B, up AMD K6 300 MHz, monitor
Optiquest V-622-2, display card using S3Trio3D Rev. B ( chipset 86C365
using AGP port and 4 Mb VRAM ).
During XF86Config, i pick up : S3Trio3D, ( generic VGA ), no probing, 4 Mb
VRAM, no clock chip setting.
Data from xvidtune asf : Hdisplay 640, Vdisplay 480, Hsyncstart 664,
Vsyncstart 491, Hsyncend 760, Vsyncend 493, Htotal 800, Vtotal 525, pixel
clock 25.18 MHz, Hsync 31.48 KHz, and Vsync 59.95 Hz.
My pc is dual booted to dos ( and from dos, i can choose win98 or winnt4 ).
Both works well in 24bpp. My monitor specs says that it runs 100 Hz at
800x600. So, i guess my card is able to do 48 MHz dot clock. Can I use this
figure as DCF? I can't find the driving clock frequency from the manual
book. In win98, the s3 info says "...
S3 v.2.01.19
S3 Gamma v. 1.01.07-0810
230 MHz RAMDAC, DAC type internal..."
Can i presume that the chipclock is 230MHz? Did i make mistake in choosing
the RAMDAC type during setup?

Which x-server is running on my linux? How should i correct? i'm
really confused..., is the problem comes from AGP/S3chipset-support/RAMDAC-
type/clockchip-setting or just because i'm too dumb? please help.
many thanks.

p.s. :
recently, i opened my pc case to see the chip id. its RAMDAC ( ? ) chipset
inside shows :
HOLTEK
