Did you 'mount' your Linux partitions? If not, that's the reason.
You have to make partitions for Linux before you can install Linux.
Not just make them, you have to 'mount' them before they can be used.
Did you configure loadlin with a "root=/dev/hdb8" where my hdb8 is your
root partition?
I doubt it's a problem with partitions other than that you must have
created them and mounted them.
You can check on WINxx partitions with 'fdisk'. Just go to the 'msdos
prompt' and type 'fdisk'. Use with care.
If you have Linux running, you can see your partitions even better with
fdisk-linux.
