Volume Control

I am running Slackware 7 and have just succeeded in getting my sound card
working. My problem is that the volume is lower than I would prefer (no

soundcard built into my Nec 7022 motherboard. Any suggestions?

Also, if anyone has the same sort of sound card I would be interested in
